Here’s what’s happening at Lilac City Barre this month:

We LOVE our members—and we think you deserve a week all about celebrating YOU! From treats and wellness moments to throwback fun, surprises, and prizes, we’ve curated a little something special for every day of 7 Days of Merci,

Because LCB wouldn’t be LCB without you. Thank you for showing up, cheering each other on, moving with us, and making this community so special. Consider this week our big, heartfelt merci. 💜

Join us Tuesday, August 18th at 5:30pm
at Manito Park (Meet across from the Park Bench Cafe; 1928 S. Tekoa)

  • 40-minute Signature Barre in the Park class open to all levels

  • donation-based class with 100% of proceeds to support Transitions

  • attendees can bring a pair of shoes or give a one-time financial donation

This event supports Transitions, a Spokane Spokane nonprofit dedicated to ending poverty and homelessness for women and children through compassionate, trauma informed care, supportive programs, housing resources, and community partnerships.

Attendees are encouraged to bring items from the Wishlist to or give a financial donation. Donations may also be brought to the studio.

We will be collecting practical essentials that help meet real needs across our programs.  From hygiene products and household items to comfort supplies and daily necessities, each item donated helps Transitions continue serving women and families with dignity, compassion, and care.

August always reminds me why I love what we do at Lilac City Barre Studio. This time of year is filled with opportunities to get outside, move our bodies, and enjoy everything our beautiful Northwest has to offer. One of the best parts of building strength in the studio is getting to experience how that strength enhances the activities you love all summer long.

For me, that looks like paddle boarding, hiking around Coeur d'Alene Lake, and spending time on the boat exploring both the lake and the river. Barre has made a noticeable difference in every one of those experiences. Paddle boarding is one of my favorite ways to enjoy the water, and while people often ask about balance, I always tell them that balance starts with strength. The deep core engagement, hip stability, ankle strength, and postural awareness we build in every barre class translate directly onto the board. Being able to confidently move, shift weight, and stay steady isn't just about coordination—it's about having muscles that support you.

When I'm hiking around Coeur d'Alene Lake, I appreciate the endurance that barre develops. Strong glutes, hamstrings, calves, and core muscles help power those uphill climbs while supporting healthy knees and hips on the way back down. Even long days walking around town or exploring new trails feel easier because of the consistent strength work we do together.

And for those relaxing boat days? Barre may not make the waves calmer, but it certainly helps you move and sit confidently on an ever-changing surface while keeping your posture strong after hours in the sun.

One of my favorite things about barre is that we don't train just for the 50 minutes we're in class—we train for life. Every pulse, hold, balance challenge, and plank is preparing us to fully enjoy the activities that make summer so memorable.

  • 💧Liquid I.V.My go-to for staying hydrated and replenishing electrolytes after long days in the sun.

  • ☀️Colorescience Sunforgettable® Total Protection® Sheer Matte SPF 30 Sunscreen Brush- A powder sunscreen for the face to touch up while I am out and about.

  • 👄Supergoop! PLAY Lip Balm SPF 30A must-have for protecting your lips while you're out on the water or hiking.

  • 🌙LANEIGE Lip Sleeping MaskMy nighttime recovery favorite for restoring moisture after a full day in the sun.

As we soak up these last weeks of summer, I hope you'll continue making time for yourself in the studio. Every class builds strength, stability, and confidence that carries far beyond the barre and into every adventure waiting outside.

See you in class!

LCB's Director of Technique Development

August can often feel a little bittersweet, doesn't it?There’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy, but we can also feel the rhythm of fall beginning to return. Before we rush ahead, I hope you’ll take a moment to savor this season with us. Come to class, linger a little longer, join us at an event, bring a friend, or simply give yourself the gift of showing up for you.

Lilac City Barre was created to be more than a place to work out. It’s a place to feel welcomed, supported, challenged and celebrated — and that is because of each and every one of you.

Thank you for continuing to make LCB such a special community. We’re so grateful to move with you!
