July is a season that naturally brings more movement into our lives — vacations, outdoor adventures, celebrations, walks, hikes, and busy summer schedules. At Lilac City Barre, we believe feeling strong, capable, and confident in your body creates the freedom to fully enjoy all of it.
One thing that makes the LCB Barre workout unique is that every exercise in class is designed with intention. Our programming is carefully built to provide the greatest muscular benefit in the safest and most effective way possible. Rather than filling class time with unnecessary “fluff” exercises, each movement has a purpose: to strengthen, stabilize, challenge, and support the body with thoughtful muscle work that delivers results while prioritizing safety and proper form.
Another defining part of the LCB experience is our focus on musicality and tempo-based movement. Our classes are specifically designed around musical timing to create a workout that is not only physically effective, but mentally stimulating and fun. Moving intentionally to a beat challenges coordination, focus, endurance, and control in a completely different way than traditional workouts.
Tempo work also encourages precision. Exercises are performed with carefully controlled timing and purposeful quickness — never rushed or careless — allowing muscles to work deeply and efficiently while helping reduce strain and prevent injury. This combination of controlled movement, intentional pacing, and strong technique creates a workout that is both challenging and supportive for the body.
This July, celebrate your independence by investing in strength that supports your everyday life. Whether you join us for one class or make barre part of your weekly routine, every 50-minute session is designed to help you move better, feel stronger, and enjoy summer with confidence. Give yourself the freedom to move strong this summer!
With energy and encouragement,
– Kerrianne,
LCB's Director of Technique Development

This event supports One Heart, a nonprofit that exists to meet the needs of kids in lower-income and at-risk neighborhoods. And we’re thrilled to be partnering again with this organization so deeply rooted in uplifting Spokane youth!
As part of their upcoming Back to School Event on August 15th, One Heart is collecting donations of new sneakers or athletic-style shoes in sizes 10 Toddler through Adult 14. Attendees are encouraged to bring a pair to help a student step into the school year with confidence or give a financial donation.
Shoe donations can also be brought to the studio.

New Combo Move Spotlight: Inner Strength for Summer
As we head into June and the start of summer routines, it’s the perfect time to keep your body feeling strong, energized, and ready for all the extra activity that comes with longer days outdoors. Whether you’re hiking, walking, traveling, gardening, or simply enjoying more time outside, maintaining strength and stability in your muscles makes all the difference in how you move and feel.
This month at Lilac City Barre, keep an eye out for a brand-new combo move added into classes! Our combo moves are designed as short but effective exercises that safely activate multiple muscle groups and get the body “juiced up” and prepared for more intense, focused muscle work ahead. They’re especially effective for warming up the lower legs and seat muscles while improving balance, control, and connection throughout the body. By properly engaging and preparing these muscle groups early in class, we help support safer movement patterns and better overall muscle performance.
Our newest combo move will place special focus on the inner thighs and pelvic floor muscles — key areas that support posture, stability, alignment, and overall strength in everyday movement. You’ll feel challenged in all the best ways while building deeper muscle awareness and endurance.
Summer schedules can get busy, but even one short 50-minute class can help keep your muscles strong, your posture lifted, and your body feeling active and capable all season long. We can’t wait to move with you this month! Be sure to get in for classes to try this new move out for yourself!

LCB's Director of Technique Development

As May blooms around us, there’s a natural invitation to refresh, reset, and step forward with renewed energy—both in and out of the studio. The flowers are opening, the days are longer, and there’s a gentle reminder in the air: growth happens when we show up for ourselves consistently.
At the barre, this season is the perfect time to begin—or begin again.
Whether you’re just starting your journey or returning after time away, remember that barre is more than a workout. It’s a practice of mindful movement, of reconnecting with your body, and of building strength from the inside out. Each pulse, each hold, each breath is an opportunity to ground yourself and cultivate resilience—not just physically, but mentally as well.
Spring encourages us to move with intention. To let go of what feels heavy and lean into what feels nourishing. That might look like committing to a weekly class, carving out time for yourself without guilt, or simply allowing your mind to be present during those final challenging moments at the barre.
A healthy lifestyle isn’t about perfection—it’s about care. It’s about choosing habits that support your well-being and recognizing that taking care of yourself is something you deserve.
So this May, give yourself permission to:
Reembrace your routine
Find joy in small progress
Move with purpose
And celebrate the strength you’re building every day
And because balance is part of a healthy lifestyle, I want to share one of my favorite ways to unwind and refresh after a great workout—a simple, sparkling berry mocktail that feels like spring in a glass:
Let this month be your fresh start—your moment to bloom, strengthen, and move forward with intention.
With energy and encouragement,
– Kerrianne,
LCB's Director of Technique Development
Here’s to a month of feeling strong, supported, and connected.
See you at the barre! 💟
